Log Settings:

Using Syslog

Logs for each device are temporarily saved in the memory of the device itself.

However, because of the limited size of this memory, the logs are gradually erased

starting from the oldest ones. BN-ADT/NAS can be used as a syslog server for saving

device logs to a computer hard drive or other location. Because of the large size of

typical computer hard drives, this enables the saving of logs for extended periods

of time. This also enables centralized management of logs from multiple devices.

Notes:

• Because this function is automatically started as a service, BN-ADT/NAS does not

need to be running, and you do not need to be logged onto Windows.

• A xed (manual) setting is recommended for the IP address of the device

receiving the log.

Settings

BN-ADT/NAS can be used as a syslog server for collecting device logs by following

the procedure shown below.

In the Main window of BN-ADT/NAS, select Tools - Options - Log Settings.

Set the various items, and click OK.
